Gwendolyn T. Hill of 68 Coleman Ave. departed this life on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. A life long resident of Asheville she was a daughter of King David Thomas of Black Mountain and the late Nannie Petty Thomas.
"Gwen" was a 1962 graduate of Stephens-Lee High School and was class president. She was a member of the former gospel group, Entertainers for Christ; worked in food service for 15 years before becoming a floral designer and worked with TLC Florist. She enjoyed sewing, singing and catering.
Surviving are her husband Gregory Hill; daughter, Promise Hill of Asheville; sister, Nancy Grant of Asheville; grandson, Trevon Hill of Asheville; nieces, nephews; step sisters, brothers; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Fannie T. Waters and brother Floyd Tenant.
Services will be held Monday at Noon in St. Paul United Methodist Church 223 Hillside St. where she was a member. Min. In'yong Lee will officiate, burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
