Darryl Hart

Darryl Hart is a life long resident of Asheville He is a son of Louise Gallego Hart and the late Osborne M. Hart. He graduated from Asheville Country Day School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree and Gupton-Jones College of funeral Service with an Associate of Science degree.

He received his Funeral Service License in 1985 and is currently active in numerous trade organizations. He is a member of Western District Funeral Directors and Morticians Association of NC, Funeral Directors and Morticians Association of NC, National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, North Carolina Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.

He is vice president and general manager of Hart Funeral Service, Inc. and also very active in the community in which he lives. He serves on the board of directors of The Bank of Asheville, Mission Hospitals, Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation, Asheville Housing Authority, A-B Tech Community College Foundation, Untied Way of Asheville & Buncombe County and The Better Business Bureau.



Carolyn S. Smith

Carolyn S. Smith has been the Secretary at Hart Funeral Service since 1979. She is a graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School for Girls, in Dorchester, MA and furthered her education at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. She is a member of Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church, where she is Church Clerk. Carolyn is the mother of three and loves to sing, cook and extend a helpful hand when needed.

Nian W. Avery

Nian W. Avery is the last of four children born to the Rev. Dr. Nilous M. Avery and Christine Watson Avery. He graduated from NC A&T State University, in 1991, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, in 1992, with an Associates degree in Funeral Service. He also served in the US Army Reserve from 1986-1991.

Nian is a licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director in both Illinois and North Carolina. He has worked and acquired a wealth of knowledge and embalming experience that includes over 4000 cases embalmed and prepared throughout his career. He has been the primary embalmer at Hart Funeral Service, since 1997.

Nian loves to ride his motorcycle, stay physically active, visit with family and friends and play with his son, Nian Avery, II.

Odell D. Suber, Jr.

Odell D. Suber, Jr. was born in Fletcher, NC and is the son of Pastor Odell D. Suber, Sr. and Sandra Lynch Suber. He is a graduate of West Henderson High School in Hendersonville, NC and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Decatur, GA. Odell is a North Carolina Funeral Service Licensee and has been a member of the Hart Funeral Service staff, since 1993, where he received all of his formal training.

Currently, he is an instructional assistant with Glenn C. Marlow Elementary School, in Fletcher, and is also the licensed ordained pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Asheville, NC. He is married to Arden, NC native Cynthia Shingles. They are the proud parents of three sons, Daquan, Frankie and Raemon.

Odell loves to sing, listen to music, farm, fish, garden and spend quality time with his family.
